Old Fashioned Goat Casserole

Guaranteed will be loved by everyone from toddlers to the elderly.

  • 1kg goat forequarter chops or loin chops
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2-3 carrots cut in large chunks or halved
  • 1 heaped tsp cumin
  • 1 heaped tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp chilli (optional)
  • 1 heaped tsp ground ginger
  • 1 heaped tsp Hungarian or sweet paprika
  • Salt and pepper

Place meat in a large baking dish, add rest of ingredients and fill with water until it just comes up to half way (almost covering the meat). Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2 hours. Check half way and give a little stir and recover again with foil ensuring no steam can escape. After 2 hours you may like to thicken on the stove with water and a little corn flour.  Serve with mash and steamed veg or whatever you like.
